“Work-in-Progress” means that the Approval cannot be automated by the Automate New Approvals setting, it requires a manual confirmation.
Packages are initially marked as WIP to indicate that they are new and may not yet be fully tested in production environments.
Despite the package updating with no issues on our test hosts, we will still mark it WiP and will review the updates after a period of time to check if the patch is working as expected to eventually removing the “Work-in-Progress” flag.
We strongly recommend testing new packages on a few (test) systems before updating a large number of hosts.
There is no fixed timeline for removing the WIP flag.
It is based on customer feedback or lack there off and the success rate we see in our logs. It also depends on the frequency of releases and the install base in general. And, we also take a lot longer for e.g. licensed software and VPN software, than we do for well known software that is freely available and easy to test in an ordinary desktop environment.
