On the Tags page, you can create and manage Tags used to organize and filter hosts.
Unlike groups, a host can be assigned to multiple Tags.
Tags provide flexible classification and allow hosts to be organized independently of their group assignement.
While groups represent a host's primary structural classification, Tags are used for cross-cutting or operational categorization.
Tags are commonly used to:
- Apply targeted operational actions such as deployment of jobs and approvals.
- Providing additional control over software updates.
For example:
- A host may belong to the Servers group
- The same host may have Tags such as:
- Production
- Remove Java
- Finance
- Legacy System
The Tags page displays a list of Tags, more concretely displays:
- Tag name of the Tag
- Approvals number of how many hosts are assigned to the Tag.
- Hosts how many hosts are assigned to the Tag.
- Installations how many applications have been installed.
- Ok number of Installations with no known vulnerabilities.
- Insecure number of Installations with known vulnerabilities.
You can view specific Tags by:
- Entering them in the appropriate text field.
- Sort the list, click the arrows
next to Tags, Approvals, Hosts, Installations, Ok and Insecure to sort the list alphabetically ascending or descending.
To add tags to host you have to go to Host page, and use the Button Manage Tags for Selected Hosts to assign Tags to the selected host(s).
