4.5.1 Groups Page Actions - VulnDetect Technical Guide

On the Groups page, there are buttons at the bottom of the page. They are greyed out if at least one Group has not been chosen. In this section we will focus on:
Creating/Editing Groups, Inspect & Update Hosts in Selected Groups, and Request Restart of Hosts in Selected Groups.


Create / Edit Group

On the Groups page, you can add or manage existing groups on this page.

To create and configure new groups, for editing same course goes:
  1. Click Create New Group
    1. To edit, select a group then Edit Selected Group should be accessible

  2. A popup window will show up

  3. Give the Group a name, description is optional
  4. Select Default Status for New Applications Approvals and choose from:
    1. Inherit
    2. Automatic Approval
    3. Manual Approval
    4. Block Updates
  5. Select Default Status for New Windows Update Approvals and choose from:
    1. Inherit
    2. Manual Approval
    3. Block Updates
  6. Check Default Group to automatically add new hosts to the specific group
  7. Custom Inspect & Update Schedule to specify which days and hours you want to run the inspections* and updates** for the group

*Actual inspections are randomly distributed over an interval of up to 10 hours, starting at the selected time.

**Applicable updates will run shortly after an inspection is completed.



Inspect & Update Hosts

On the Groups page, all hosts within a group can be commanded to scan and deploy updates.
To do so:
  1. Select one or more groups from the list.
  2. Click Inspect & Updates Hosts In Selected Group.
  3. The respective group(s) will initiate a scan and deployment of applicable updates.


Restart Hosts in Groups Page

On the Groups page, it's possible to restart host groups.
To do so:
  1. Select one or more groups from the list.
  2. Click Request Restart of Hosts in Selected Group
  3. From the menu choose a restart Tag or create a restart Tag if there is none.


Export to CSV

Click Export to CSV to download the current Groups table view in CSV format
